Default Casual mature Guild looking to merge with casual mature guild

Are you a mature Casual Player? Are you in a guild with a couple of similar people? Do you have a life outside GuildWars but still want to participate? Do you cringe whenever you hear the word uber? have you had all your shots?

Does reading this make you feel icky?
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/guilds/...ation-army.php

If you answered yes to all of the above keep reading. If you answered no to all of the above stop being so negative (and learn to follow directions since you should only be reading this if you answered yes).

Ok enough with the jokes, serious now.
I know there are alot of small guilds out there that would like to be bigger but recruiting one person at a time is just not working. having a casual member base just compounds the problem. Most casual players do find a guild but it is small and they don't have the time to recruit properly; once in a guild people are reluctant to leave the people they know. That leaves a guild merger as the only viable solution.

We currently have 10 active members (thats casual active as opposed to no-life active) and are looking to add to our motley crew. We would like to bring people in groups, not because we don't want solitary members but because you'll be more comfortable if you already know someone.

We have a guild hall and would like to keep the guild name (since it is tied to the hall now) The cape design is debatable and I think would be a good merge option (keep one guilds name but use the other guilds cape) unless you prefer our cape

We are primarily PvE but thats only because we don't have the membership for PvP. Essentially we like PvE but would like to do some PvP as well.

Let the liberation begin.

I think that is everyones problem, we are at a spot where we want to expand but don't want to lose the hall and our identity to do it. Rock and hard place.

yeah. i can see the problem. however, i can tell you this. youre going to have a hard time merging 7 people with a larger guild and still be able to keep the hall and name.

chances are, youre gonna have to be the absorbee. that's unless you find a larger guild that has no hall, they might be more inclined to merge for the use of a hall.

but make sure you merge with like-minded people. ;-)

Actually we are looking for a guild smaller than us just for that reason. I know they are out there...

Sam,

Our guild is a bit larger than yours and seems to have the same philosophy. Right now we are looking at options. We have a hall and are based loosely on a prior game we played so I am not sure how open others would be to being absorbed. Anyway I think it would worthwhile to open a dialog. Please PM me if you would care to chat some about this - or look for me in game: Billiard the Risen or Billiard the Bold.

"We perform both pve and pvp but dont take either too seriously, If we win, we win. If we lose, they cheated. "

I like your philosophy =p

I'm from another small guild of friends who met in another game (NWN) and have started to discuss merging with another guild for, well, typical reasons ... I'd like to have a chat with you, and will post link to your post for others to read (we have around 5-6 more or less active people plus a few reeeeeally casual players, no hall, and a cape I'm not dying for).

Haha I like you're philosophy as well. By the way, my own guild used to be like your own. Over time we gained new members, and now do gvg almost daily. If you want to have some friendly unrated matches, just whisper me sometime, erray the magestic, and I'll set it up.

This is an unexpected but welcome bonus to starting this thread, I've made contact with several similar minded guilds. Even if mergers don't happen now, there may one day be an alliance feature (I can continue to hope) that will make it more feasable, until then there are friendly matches to be had.

My guild, Phoenix Rising, has about 10 semi-active member and 1 very active member ...I would love to discuss a merger kind of thing with you. We would undoubtedly keep our forums since we have been together since Diablo 2 days but an in game cape and hall are very do-able for us. Please send a PM.

Sam, it all sounds good. I am excited about the concept of merger that we've been discussing...so much so that I've already lined up a site purchase that will give us space, forums, chat, and other stuff.

Not only that but my rather overfertile mind has been coming up with quest ideas to "spice up" GW for guildmates.

For instance:

Run to Ranik: Levels 3-5 post searing (this would require some effort on the part of teams: they would have to make characters and move them to post searing). Teams start at the guild hall. After all are gathered, we go to Ascalon City District Whatever. On the call of GO, teams run out the gate and Run to Ranik (or Piken or wherever). The first team to come back to the hall with the appropriate screenshots (hehe) gets a gold or item prize from the guild.

Of course things like this could also be run pre-searing. First team to collect: Gwen's Flute (NOT purchased darn it! LOL!), the glittering necklace, the enormous pearl, 50 rawhide belts, 1k bear pelts....LOL the possibilities are endless.

Those are wonderful ideas Aniewiel, anything that supports team activities is a bonus. I've had similar thoughts on scavanger hunts, bring me a grawls necklace, a charr hide and an icy hump ect.

One question: Why FURNITURE Liberation Army? LOL! I love the name and wanted to know the history behind it?

heh sure. I can't take credit for the name it was created by a friend of mine in ultima online. basically the concept comes partly from the mechanics of that game and partly from a monty python reference. If you have seen the Life of Brian then you may know the scene, basically where the various insurgent groups are insulting each other, The fla was one of the groups listed.

As for the furniture bit, in ultima online you could take crafting skills, Improving these skills required that you make the items, over and over and over again (one aspect of mmo's that guildwars thankfully does not have). So if you are a woodworker (I don't remember the actual skill name) you would go out to the woods cut down trees for wood and craft tables, chairs, beds, cupboards, you name it. Most of this furniture was worthless so you just got rid of it as you built it. This led to the very odd occurence of wandering through the woods hunting monsters only to find chairs strewn all over the place, and in some instances entire dinning room sets complete with place settings (people get creative when they are bored). This got us to talking and we concluded that this must be the furnitures natural habitat, and all the furniture in houses had been captured and enslaved. Thus the birth of the fla.

LOL! I have vague and rather horrifying memories of a month's free subscription from UO where I spent copious amounts of time out in the forest chopping wood and being snuffed by wild animals and PKs...I always kept an ear out for the "SCARY MUSIC"!

that describes UO to a tee. Long periods of boredom intermixed with moments of sheer terror.
